Murray Ryan is a lifelong resident of North Sydney, who has been dedicated to working to improve the community of Northside-Westmount for all residents, since being elected in 2019.
After graduating from Memorial High School, Murray attended St. F.X. University where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Degrees. He continued his studies receiving his Chartered Professional Accountant Designation and is currently enrolled in CBU’s MBA in Community Economic Development.
Murray worked for over 25 years in various senior financial roles with local, provincial and national organizations. He has been and continues to be active in the community, with the Rotary Club of North Sydney and was a former board member of the Breton Ability Centre.
As the MLA for Northside-Westmount, he worked tirelessly on behalf of its residents. Murray, the PC Finance Critic has called the government to task on many issues including the areas of healthcare, poverty, housing and our seniors. Murray has also served as a member of the Veteran’s Affairs Committee which provided the opportunity to bring issues affecting our veterans to light and advocating for them.
Murray is the son of Murray (Rick) Ryan and the late Mabel Ryan. He is married to former Sydney Mines resident Joanne MacDonald and they have one son Andrew.
